Hello, and thank you for taking the ?me to hear our voices on this ma?er.
We again would like to encourage the commi?ee to take a stand against the proposed development as wri?en. We take
excep?on to the extremely high density, build for rent, and commercial aspects of this plan.
We have lived on the west side for over 20 years and we have seen the surrounding fields grow into neighborhoods.
These have been low density, non commercial neighborhoods where quiet and space lends itself to comfortable living.
The addi?on of housing is a necessity in this area, but at whose expense? Those of us who have been here would like to
have the respect of those who wish to build in our backyards. Yes, newcomers are of course welcome, but do we need
another coffee drive through, sandwich shop or drugstore on every corner? At what point is convenience someone else’s
eyesore? High density housing has come to Carmel, but enough is enough. Our roundabouts are now more like four way
stops at the very ?mes (rush hours) that they were meant to relieve traffic.
Build to rent undermines the community and our neighborhood. This development would not have any problem selling
to individual owners as this area of Indiana is a very coveted place to live…….so why build to rent?? Only one reason...to
make the top richer and keep others on the cusp of ownership.
We would like to ask the commi?ee with much respect to consider the community’s “greater good” for this plan instead
of the individual developer. Take a stand and do what is right.
Regards,
Gary and Dena Thomas
