Explanation of why variance/waiver is being requested: UDO Section 2.10: Regarding the Carmel High School Stadium, the existing 56’-0” high press box is being replaced with a new press box. The new press box internal floor levels were established to accommodate improvement to the existing sight lines to the field. In doing so, the resulting press box height at the highest point is 71’-10” to the top of the parapet, which exceeds that allowable 35 feet. The overall distance does include a 4’ high parapet which provides a parapet screen around the roof top equipment and provides fall protection for maintenance. The overall distance also includes the approximate 4 feet down to the finish grade of the playing surface. The net difference between the existing and new press box is 15’-2” increase.
