The AMTA policy not only provides a description of what is covered and what is not covered, it also sets out your obligations as an insured and, ,...here appropriate, the obligations of others involved with you. You, as an insured AMTA member, trigger this service when YOll report a claim quickly and accurately. Your coverage under the AMTA Professional Liability Insurance Plan is triggered by your "Scope of Pmctice" which is defined as "Therapeutic Massage and Body Work:' The AMTA Professional Liability Insurance Plan policy is not intended to be procedure of modality specific.. .but instead, the policy was wrinen such a way that it will coveryoll for any procedures you are qualified to pertonn as a massage therapist. Do 1 Need a License to Practice? If a License is required in the state or Location in which you currently practice, you must be functioning within the scope or that liccnsure. However, in some states. there is not certification, registration or licensing required. in tllis case, the AMTA Professional Liability Insurance Plan policy would respond for those activities within your education and training as a massage therapist Is my Coverage Affected by Zoning Ordinance,,,,-? Actually. there is no correlation between Zoning Ordinances and Professional Liability coverage which would he covcrcd under the AMTA policy. In other words. ifan individual is found to be in violation of city or state zoning ordinances. but is sued tor Professional Liability. the AMTA policy would provide Professional Liability coverage for the individual. What is Additionallnsurer! Coverage? This extension ofliability coverage is utilized when contracts yOll may have with hotels, landlords, health & fitness clubs. etc. require you to name these entities as additional insureds. Please read your contracts carefully to be certain that you are required to add these entities. It is not necessal)' to name yourself or your business Ilamc as additional insureds. as you and your business are automati- cally insured so long as you arc a member of AMT A in good standing. It is also unnccessary to name any other AMTA member with whom you may do business, as they are automatically covered by the AMTA plan. The insurance contract should not be extended to add employers as additional insureds. Employers should purchase their own policies to cover regular business aClivities.
