Re: Variance Request
Per the variance filing requirements, please note the following:
•I respectfully and kindly request a fence height variance. I would like to install a very
aesthetic, 5-foot cedar privacy fence, 88 feet long, along the Hazel Dell side of the
house in between the mature trees
•The city permits a 42-inch-high fence in that area. However, I ask for the variance to
be approved for the above specifications
•The statement of support for this variance includes safety concerns. After
purchasing the home on May 2, 2024, I noticed that juveniles would cut through the
yard, perhaps as a short cut to the neighboring houses. Also, while sleeping in my
three-season room, a car stopped on Hazel Dell for a few moments, then sped
away. Considering the remote location of the home and its particularly ease of
access from 115th and Hazel Dell, coupled with the organized South American
crimes, I find my property is easily accessible to juvenile mischief and crime (see
attaches "suspicious activity" report at the 51 oo block of E 115th St). Note, an
aluminum barbed wire fence was already on the property when I bought it and was
installed for the same reason. Besides personal safety issues, a pool will be
installed this spring and the fence additional will being additional safety measures
for my family and the community. Lastly, the house already has 6 feet of privacy
fence along the perimeters and the proposed fence will match the existing
