Members of the Carmel Planning Commission
My husband and I have recently moved to the Village of West Clay from Indianapolis and our backyard faces the proposed development on
Stout Farm. While we anticipated some type of future development (and we are not anti-development) we were very surprised with the current
Clay Cottages proposal for several reasons.
1. The proposed density is too great and inconsistent with the Village of West Clay VWC (even though they claim to have used it to
develop the Clay Cottages model)
2. The proposed project does not appear to recognize the special & unique characteristics of the VWC - green space/common areas &
architectural styles
3. The proposed project is not consistent with the other adjacent west Carmel neighborhoods in terms of lot size, coverage & green
spaces
4. The proposed project does not reflect or is consistent with the property values of homes in the VWC or adjacent neighborhoods
We moved to the Village of West Clay because of the neighborhood but more specifically to Carmel for its outstanding quality of life, beautiful
parks and public facilities, well maintained streets and outstanding governance. We fully support responsible planning and zoning development
and hope that the Planning Commission will take this into consideration as they review this request.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
