bottom of the 12/27 docket no. assignment email, and please do that before
noon on Friday, Jan. 17. For your convenience, they are listed again, below: a)
Please make checks payable to City of Carmel if you are paying via check. b)
Provide a copy of the Official List of Adjacent Property Owners from the
Hamilton County Auditors Office. (Make sure to check Carmel BZA on their
form.) c) *The Current in Carmel only prints on Tuesdays, and their filing
deadline is usually 14 days prior to their printing date. Please submit your
Microsoft Word file of the legal ad to them before Noon, Fri., Jan. 3 so that it

wording to use for the legal ad and the mailings the Notice of Public
Hearing.) d) The mailings/notices to the adjacent property owners should be
done by first class mail with Certificate of Mailing (not Certified Mail). (Please
provide us with the stamped receipts of the certificate of mailings for the file
on or before Noon, Wed., Jan. 22.) e) Please provide the filled out &
notarized Placement of Public Notice Sign Placement Affidavit form (found in
Handout) once the sign is placed. f) Please provide the filled out & notarized
Petitioners Affidavit of Notice of Public Hearing form (found in Handout). g)
Please provide the filled out Notice of the Public Hearing form/template
(found in Handout). h) Please provide proof of notice, such as Publishers
Affidavit from the newspaper, once you receive them. i) Please make sure to
list out your practical difficulties and hardships associated with having to
comply with the zoning ordinance. j) Additional review comments (if any) will
be issued through ProjectDox, our online electronic plan review software. k)
Please provide a copy of the Carmel Engineering Dept. email of approval for
the proposed pervious pavers drainage system. l) Please also provide the
pool pump equipment location and design details/specs (showing that it is
of a quiet design with low noise/vibrations).

Pool deck elevation is 843.6 feet and the updated site
plan shows the walls and deck will match existing grade
(refer to yellow boxes with M.E.)

Match Existing is not correct. There is approx. 7-8 feet
of fall from the finished floor elevation shown on the
original site plan to the existing elevations at the east
(rear) property line. The elevation of the pool deck will
be required, and the site plan will be revised to show
how the deck and proposed walls will be tied back into
the existing grade around the proposed pool.

That is good news that she has amended her plans to gain support from the Engineering Dept.
Attached is the Handout for the BZA Hearing Officer – Development Standards Variance, which contains
instructions, checklist, affidavits, and more. However, the official creation and submittal must be done on the
online application portal.
And, below are the dates and deadlines for the Jan. 27 BZA HO meeting. (The filing deadline is noon Monday,
December 30.) Please note that if that agenda gets too full, your item might be moved to the Feb. 24 BZA HO
meeting agenda, so I suggest that you file as soon as you can to get in the queue.
