Fishers, IN 46038 RE: Lot 334 Village of West Clay (Jacoby) Keith: 1 have visited the above referenced project to investigate a Microllam® LVL beam member in question, along with a questions regarding hanger installation. Microllam® LVL condition: A 3 piece- 1-3/4" x 11-7/8" Microllam® LVL member in the second floor framing near the stairs has a hole drilled at an angle. This hole is approximately 1/4" in diameter and is located approximately 2 feet from a bearing support. The hole also appears to only affect one piece and part of the second piece of the 3 piece member. Due to the size, location and load on the beam; the hole is acceptable as is; therefore, no repair is necessary. Hanger condition: The face mount hangers that support the THS joists in the second floor framing and are hune into the side of the Microllam® LVL member are installed correctly. Structurally, the hanger is acceptable; although the tabs at the bottom flange of the joist are not bent over and nailed, a nail is installed at the bottom of the hanger into the bottom of the joist. With the rest of the floor installed (joists, sub floor, beams), the hanger nailing to the joists and beam is acceptable. If there are any questions, please contact me at 370-5174.
