DRAINAGE SUMMARY
DESIGN CRITERIA
The drainage calculations and design for the Carmel Science and Technology
Park Block 11 Development are petiormed by The Schneider Corporation.
Drainage data for the overall site including retention pond and water quality
design are included the Carmel Science and Technology Park Block 11
Development prepared by The Schneider Corporation dated January 17, 2007.
The drainage calculations for the Irwin Union Bank Site are based on given data
and design criteria as follows:
Site location:
Irwin Union Bank is a proposed commercial development located on
approximately 1.24 acres. The site is part of the Carmel Science and
Technology Park Block 11 Development in Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.
The development is located at the south corner of the intersection of Carmel
Drive and City Center Drive.
Terrain and existing ground condition:
The site is currently a vacant lot covered with grass. The overall site has 2' of
relief, with elevations ranging from 842 M.S.L. at the northeast boundary of the
site to 844 M.S.L. at the south boundary of the site. Existing runoff generally
drains from southwest to northeast toward an existing retention pond
approximately 300 feet east of the site.

Soil types:
Soils maps from the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation
Service identify Brookston, Crosby, Shoals, and Miami soils on the subject site.
Brookston (Bs) and Miami (MmB2) are a part of hydrologic group B, while Crosby
(erA) and Shoals (Sh) are a part of hydrologic group C. The majority of the site
is MmB2 and Brookston with only small portions of Sh and CrA.

Site Drainage Design:
Refer to the Carmel Science and Technology Park Block 11 Drainage Report
prepared by The Schneider Corporation, dated January 17, 2007 for overall site
design, retention facility design and calculations, and water quality design and
calculations. The Irwin Union Bank Site is part of Basin #603. A retention facility
serving the site will be constructed approximately 300 feet east of the Irwin Union
Bank Site. Storm sewer will convey runoff from the Irwin Union Bank Site to the
existing retention pond. 3 curb inlets will be constructed to collect stormwater
from the site. The inlets and pipes serving the site have been designed
according to the City of Carmel Storm Sewer Design Standards to convey the
1 O-year storm. Additionally, storm pipes under pavement have been designed
for a minimum 2.5 feet of cover. All of the pipes serving the Irwin Union Bank
Site will meet these requirements.
The 1 OO-year flood elevation of the pond is 836.00 ft. The 1 OO-year flood
elevation of the existing retention pond was taken from the drainage report for
Carmel Science and Technology Park Block 11 Drainage Report prepared by
The Schneider Corporation, dated January 17,2007. The Irwin Union Bank
Building finished floor elevation is 844.05 ft, which is well above the minimum
flood protection grade of 838.00 ft.
According to the Carmel Science and Technology Park Block 11 Drainage
Report, an Aquaswirlâ„¢ structure will be installed in the storm sewers
downstream of the Irwin Union Bank Site. The structure will treat water from the
site prior to entering the retention pond.
