I have no problem with the fence. I understand why they made the choice they did and I think they will take care
of it. It odes not take away from the property value and does not block the view. I'm in favor of their fence. As a
new property owner there sure does seem to be a lot of controversy and two definite facets in the neighborhood.

Subject: VERY IMPORTANT: Zoning Meeting Tonight for 302 Pintail Court Fence
Good Morning Spring Lake Estates Homeowners Association Members,
There is a variance request coming before the Zoning Board this evening for the FENCE at
302 Pintail Court (owned by our Board of Directors Member, Jon Jay). This fence, which
does not follow the guidelines of Spring Lake Estates fencing requirements, also does not
follow the City of Carmel fencing requirements. It exceeds 6 feet in height.
Unfortunately, our Board of Directors did not notify the Association Members of this zoning
variance hearing.
If possible, please plan on attending the meeting at 5:30 this evening on the 2nd Floor of City
Hall. If you are not available to attend, feel free to email your comments to me and I will
read them at the meeting. The City notice is posted below.

Good day to everyone,
Our item on tonight's public hearing is in response to a complaint someone in our neighborhood sent to the City of
Carmel. We have personally spent over $500 and more hours than I can count as a result of this complaint. The City of
Carmel has also spent our tax dollars addressing this complaint. If you would like to know more about the complaint or
any other issues, please contact us.
Our variance request is due to a retaining wall we installed adjusting for the Illinois Street road project. When you
include the retaining wall height and our fence height the total height is over 6 feet. The fence is still shorter than the
Illinois Street wall. There are very specific steps in providing notification of a request for variance which we have
followed.
We can tell that there may still be some upset feelings about the homeowner association approval of our fence. If you
have any other concerns, please let us know personally.

There is a variance request coming before the Zoning Board this evening for the FENCE at
302 Pintail Court (owned by our Board of Directors Member, Jon Jay). This fence, which does
not follow the guidelines of Spring Lake Estates fencing requirements, also does not follow the
City of Carmel fencing requirements. It exceeds 6 feet in height.

There is a variance request coming before the Zoning Board this evening for the FENCE at 302
Pintail Court (owned by our Board of Directors Member, Jon Jay). This fence, which does not follow
the guidelines of Spring Lake Estates fencing requirements, also does not follow the City of Carmel
fencing requirements. It exceeds 6 feet in height.
Unfortunately, our Board of Directors did not notify the Association Members of this zoning variance
hearing.
If possible, please plan on attending the meeting at 5:30 this evening on the 2nd Floor of City Hall. If
you are not available to attend, feel free to email your comments to me and I will read them at the
meeting. The City notice is posted below.
