Signage Dear Sir or Madam: Attached is an application for a development standards variance for relocating a sign for st. Vincent Carmel Hospital. A new round-a-bout is being constructed at the intersection of Old Meridian Street, Guilford Road, and St. Vincent Carmel's main entry drive, As a result of the construction of this round-a-bout and the acquiring of additional street R.O.W from St. Vincent Carmel Hospital, the existing hospital sign, which was previously permitted and approved by the City of Carmel, has to be relocated to a new location. The new location for the sign, shown on the attached site plan is within the area of the newly acquired R.O.w. for the round-a-bout. The application for encroachment for the sign will appear before the Board of Public Works at their February 6th meeting. Since the sign is an existing and previously approved sign, that is being relocated due to the construction of a new round-a-bout, I request that the Board of Zoning Appeals approve this development standards variance. The approval of this variance will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community because: THE SIGN IS AN EXISTING AND PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SIGN THAT IS BEING RELOCATED DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ROUND-AcBOUT. . 2. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be affected in a substantially adverse manner because: THE SIGN IS AN EXISTING AND PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SIGN THAT IS BEING RELOCATED DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ROUND-A-BOUT. 3. The strict application of the terms of the Zoning Ordinance to the property will result in practical diffic'ulties in the use of the property because: .. THE MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE HOSPITAL WILL NOT BE ADEQUATELY MARKED TO INFORM PATIENTS WHERE TO ENTER THE HOSPITAL PROPERTY. DECISION IT IS THEREFORE the decision of the CarmeVClay Board of Zoning Appeals that Development Standards Variance Docket No. 07120003V is granted, subject to any conditions stated in the minutes of this Board, which are incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.
