Carmel, IN 46032 RE: CITY CODE VIOLATION -DECK WITHOUT A PERMIT Dear Sir or Madam This letter is being provided to inform you that the City has recently received a complaint regarding a deck located at 2087 Renegade Ct., in the City of Carmel, a property listed under your ownership. Carmel City Code prohibits this type of activity without first obtaining a permit from the Division of Building and Code Services of the City of Carmel. Carmel City Codes § 7-9 states: (a) It shall be unlawful for any person or entity to construct, alter, repair, remove or demolish any building or structure, or to commence construction or the alteration of real estate, without first filing a written application with the Director and obtaining an improvement location permit or other appropriate permit regarding same, unless the submission of same is expressly excused by applicable law. The deck which has been constructed and is over 30 inches off the ground is required to have a permit to legally establish it. Please bring your property into compliance by May 31, 2007. Carmel, IN 46032 Dear Mr. Bartz: I am writing this letter to document our conversation and the issue regarding the deck located on your property at 2087 Renegade Ct. After further review and inspection of the deck I have reached the conclusion that since the deck is not entirely at or above the 30" height limitation that I will not require you to obtain a permit for its' existence. I have placed a copy of this letter in my enforcement file and it is now closed. If I can be of assistance to you in the future please do not hesitate to contact me.
