The sign(s) is located at 1701 116 St., E. , in the City of Carmel. All signs located in Clay Township are required to have sign permits according to Section 25.07.07 of the Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance which states the following: Except as otherwise provided in this Ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person to establish any sign within the jurisdictional area of this Ordinance, or cause the same to be done without first obtaining a sign permit for each sign from the Administrator as required by this Ordinance. The new sign that has been installed has no permit. The sign permit was applied for, but no permit fee has been obtained and, therefore, the sign does not have a legal permit. IN 46032 Dear Laura: I guess the problem here is a result of total confusion. When I contacted the City of Carmel to advise them that I was going to rebrand the location from Citgo to Valero I was told that I had to go before some board for approval. I had to pay a huge fee for the previledge to go before this board and I had to prepare site drawings showing the location appearance after the image change. 1 also had to prepare and submit for their approval a drawing of the new sign faces (not new signs -just face color changes). I did this at considerable expense again and received approval to do the work. I believe that I had the full approval of the City of Carmel to complete the work and to complete the color change of the existing ID signs. I was then told that I had to file a sign permit request which I did. I had heard nothing since then until your e-mail to me. I simply do not understand why I must pay twice for the right the repaint a sign face To resolve this issue, I will agree to pay the permit that you requested in the amount of 5441.00 even thoughl-?ave already paid fees to the City to approve this sign change.
