Parcel Information Report
There is a house at 1777 Arrowwood Drive in
Smokey Knoll with a storage shack attached to the
house and another house at 977 Arrowwaod Drive in
Copperwood with a storage shack attached to that
house. Both of the shacks are very visible from the
street. If they were attached to the back, at least they
would not look as bad.
Are these shacks approved by the City of Carmel and
the respective subdivision covenants? If everyone
built a storage shack attached to the side of their
house, this area would look very tacky.
Are building permits required for these shacks and, if
so, do these shacks meet Carmel requirements? If
permits are required, did these homeowners obtain a
permit? Did the neighborhood associations approve
these shacks?

RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION /ATTACHED ACCESSORY STRUCTURE
Mr. & Mrs. Olds,
This letter is being provided to inform you that our department has recently received a complaint
regarding property at 1777 Arrowwood Dr. in the City of Carmel, a property listed under your
ownership. This complaint was concerning an accessory structure that was attached to the primary
structure that failed to follow Carmel Clay Land Use Regulations, particularly §25.01 Accessory
Buildings and Uses. Since the accessory building is attached/closer than ten (10) feet from the
Principal Building it is considered to be part of the Principal Building. Therefore, permits must be
obtained and certain construction guideline must be met in order for the structure to be considered
legal. For information on obtaining proper permits and construction requirements please call
(317)571-2444. Please begin this process by February 5, 2008, failure to do so will result in the
issuance of daily monetary citations until all necessary requirements are met.
