Dear Mr. Bolinger,
At the meeting held Monday, March 25, 2002, the Cannel/Clay Board of Zoning Appeals
took the following action regarding the Special Use .Amendment and Developmental Standards
Variance petitions filed by you on behalf of the Cannel/Clay School Corporation:
APPROVED with Conditions: Docket No. SUA-I-02, a petition to construct a 25,578-square-
foot addition to an existing 78,OOO-square-foot School of General Elementary Education and
make site improvements on 22.251:1:: acres. The Board voted three (3) in favor, zero (0) opposed,
thereby approving the petition with the following Condition:
1. That the petitioner work with the City's Urban Forester to address his
comments contained in a letter dated March 25, 2002. and supplied to the
petitioner at the Public Hearing.

APPROVED as Amended: Docket No. V-2-02, a petition to vary Section 25,7.01-2: Definitions:

APPROVED: Docket No. V-6-02, a petition to vary Section 25. 7.02-5(c): Maximum Sign Area:
(ii): Changeable Copy Sign of the Sign Ordinance in order to establish a twenty-four-square-foot
Changeabl~ Copy Sign on site. The Board voted three (3) in favor, zero (0) opposed, thereby
approving the petition.
APPROVED: Docket No. V-7-02, a petition to vary Section 25. 7. 02-5 (d): Maximum Height of
Ground Sign of the Sign Ordinance in order to establish a six-foot, two-inch (6' 2") Ground
Institutional Sign on site. The Board voted three (3) in favor, zero (0) opposed, thereby
approving the petition.
Traffic Directional Signs A, B, C, and D do not require Sign Permits. The Ground
Institutional/Changeable Copy Sign does require a Sign Permit.
Please be advised that the Department will not be able to issue a Sign Permit for the new
Ground Institutional Sign until the existing Wall Institutional Sign has been removed.

When applying for Sign Permits for this structure, please include a copy of this
letter with your application materials in order to assist the Department's review.
Please be advised that per Section 21.2.7: Time Limit of the Zoning Ordinance, the
aforementioned Special Use Amendment approval is valid for one (1) year. By that time, either
continuous construction of site improvements must be underway, or a written request for a one-
time, six-month extension of the approval must have been received and approval granted by this
Department. The expiration date of this approval is Tuesday, March 25,2003.
Please be advised that per Section 30.5.5: Time Limit of the Zoning Ordinance, the
aforementioned Developmental Standards Variance approvals are valid for one (1) year. By that
time, either continuous construction of sign improvements must be underway, or a written
request for a one-time, six-month extension of the approval must have been received and
approval granted by this Department. The expiration date of these approvals is Tuesday, March
25,2003.
