Explanation
Penske Honda, formerly Dan Young Honda, occupies a parcel of real estate located on the
north east comer of Lakeshore Drive and 96th Street. It is outlined on the aerial photograph included
as Exhibit 2, is zoned B-3, and has received special use approval for automobile sales, service, and
repair.
Building # 1 identified onthe aerial photograph is Penske Honda - Pre-Owned Sales and Body
Repair. Building #2 identified on the aerial photograph is Penske Honda - New Car Sales. This
variance request pertains only to Building #1. Variances are requested for both the south elevation
and the east elevation. Each is discussed below:
1.
Variance for South Elevation. Per a variance granted last year, a 90 square foot sign,
comprising a blue Honda logo and the word "Certified", also in blue, was approved. This
variance request is made only to permit (i) the changing of the word "Certified" from blue
to red, and (ii) the changing of the letter forms from printing to cursive. The revised sign is
shown on the enclosed Exhibit 3.
2.
Variance for West Elevation. Per a variance also granted last year, a 105 square foot, blue
sign, comprising the words "Paint and Body Shop Entrance" was approved. In that there are
two doors, however, it is Penske's desire to state twice the word "Entrance" and, therefore,
to obtain approval of a sign which is 123.5 square feet as shown on Exhibit 4.
