Explanation of Developmental Standards Variance Requests
Applicant requests renewal of approval of a Developmental Standards Variance of
Section 3.0 of the Cam1ellClay Zoning Ordinance to allow a center identification ground sign to
be located within the vision clearance triangle on a comer lot. Applicant also requests renewal of
approval of a developmental standards variance of Section 25.7.02-11 of the Call11el/Clay
Zoning Ordinance to decrease the minimum required distance for a center identification sign
from the street right-of-way. The applicant specificaJ1y requests a decrease in the setback from
10 feet to 8.28 feet along Cannel Drive and from 10 feet to .93 feet along Old Meridian Strcet.
The sign, in its present location, best utilizes the grade, right-of-way and parking
configuration to promote the streetscape concept for Old Meridian Street and identify the
property. The sign does not interfere with drivers' vision when they pass through the intersection
of Cannel Drive and Old Meridian Street.
