PROJECT NARRATIVE u Existin2 Conditions The existing 44.5 acre site is located on Guilford Avenue j list south of Main Street in Carmel, Indiana. The site is in Section 25, Township 18 North, Range 3 East, in Hamilton County. See FIGURE 1 for the LocatiC:ll. Map. The existing site includes Carmel Jr. High, College Wood elementary school, a track, athletic fields, a public pool, tennis courts, parking areas, and open grassed areas. A legal drain nms across the northwest comer of the site. The soils on the site are Crosby Silt Loam, Brookston Silty Clay Loam, and MIami Silt Loam as delineated on FIGURE 2, the Soils Map. Crosby Silt Loam is in hydrologic soil group C, Brookston Silty Clay Loam is in hydrologic soil group BID, and Miami Silt Loam is in hydrologic soil group B. Elevations on the site range from a high of approximately 854 inside the track dmvn to about 829 at the outlet of the legal drain. The entire existing site currently drains offsite through the legal drain, as sho\VTl on FIGURE 3, Existing Conditions Map. Developed Conditions u The developed site will include the construction of a 25,800 sf (0.59 ac) auditorium addItion to the north side of the existing Jr High, additional parking and drive areas, relocated tennis courts, two renovated ball fields, and a new east entranc~ to the schooL The entire site will continue to drain offsite through the legal drain, as shown on FIGURE 4, Developed Conditions Map. Due to the addition to the north side of the school, new storm lines were routed around build mg. The additional parking areas will drain via new inlets that are connected to the eXIsting stoml sewer system. Approximately 2.3 acres of impervious surface will be added to the site due ro the slte improvements. Per dIscussions with the City of Cannel, storm detention is not required since the city is developing future plans for a regional detention basin located on the north side of the site. Segments of the eXlsting storm sewer system will be upgraded with larger pipes to provide increased capacity as required. The new storm lines were designed to accomodate the 10 year storm event using the Rational Method and the storm sewer modeling software, Hydraflow. Storm Sewers 2000. Detailed storm sewer calculations now follow this narrative. Reference: Phase I Report, Old Meridian Stormwater Master Plan Investigations.
