Re: Carmel City Code Violation — Abandoned/Junk Vehicle
Dear Sir/Madam:
This letter is being provided to inform you that it has recently been brought to the City's
attention that at 9637 Maple Dr., a properly listed under your ownership, several
abandoned/junk vehicles are being stored. This is prohibited per the Carmel City Code §
6-106(b) and § 6-114, which states:
6-106 (b): A Junk Car shall mean any motor vehicle which does not bear a
currently valid license plate, and is not kept in a garage or building.
6-114: Because of the danger to the health from vermin, the danger of personal
injury to children attracted by such vehicles, danger of fire by the storage of
gasoline and oil thereon, any abandoned, unlicensed, inoperable,
disassembled, wrecked or junked motor vehicle on any street or public
property for more than five days or upon any private property for more than
15 days. except as hereinafter provided, is declared to be a nuisance and
unlawful.
To avoid further enforcement action, which will include having the vehicle removed from
the property, please either plate, garage, or remove all junk vehicles by May 27, 2008.
This violation of Code has been cited at your property previously. Therefore, because of
your unwillingness to comply with Carmel City Code, future violations of this nature will
result in daily citations being assessed until compliance has been achieved. If you have

I represent Mr. Ayad regarding the "Carmel City Code Violation — Abandoned/Junk Vehicle"
notice that you sent to him on May 20, 2008. A copy of the notice is enclosed for your
convenience.
As you may recall, you and I spoke by telephone following a similar letter that was sent to Mr.
Ayad in September, 2007 (Your file no. 00001433). As was the case seven months ago, Mr.
Ayad has had no `Junk vehicles" on his property. He has only had licensed and running vehicles
on his property.
This appears to be yet another chapter in Mr. Ayad's ongoing dispute with his neighbors at 9639
Maple Drive (next door). As you may recall, the neighbors have made vulgar comments toward
Mr. Ayad and his family about their status as immigrants from Egypt, and their Christian faith.
And, unfortunately, they have again chosen to misuse your office to harass Mr. Ayad with false
allegations.
I don't know what may prevent future false allegations, but I want to reassure you that Mr. Ayad
wants only to be in compliance with all of the laws, and we are ready to work with you and your
office should any future allegations be made. Please feel free to contact me directly should you
have any remaining concerns.
