This is allowed per the BZA Rules of Procedure, Section 4 (b). So instead of a 1-member voting on your item, you will have 5-members voting on this. You will need majority vote for this to be approved (3 or more positive votes). The Carmel Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is in the process of being updated to reflect this request, where the initial hearing for a Short-Term Residential Rental (STRR) to be heard by the full, 5-member BZA, rather than a Hearing Officer. Renewal requests for a STRR will still be heard by a BZA Hearing Officer. You do not need to redo your public notice. Prepare to do a brief presentation of your proposal. Your Special Exception will now be heard at the 6:00 p.m. BZA public hearing on Tuesday, May 27. Planning Staff will update the May 27 BZA meeting agendas to reflect this. The well was last tested in 2005. The home has its own, separate, septic system, which is located in the front yard. The properties now identified as 14160 Cherry Tree Road, 14180 Cherry Tree Road and 14160 Cherry Creek Boulevard are all that remain of the original land owned by the (family name) family—my family— since 1854. While each parcel now has a separate address and legal description, the use of the land has remained consistent as a single, unified property. This continued consistency is due to the fact that it has remained in the family across generations. The home does have glow in the dark exit signs along with fire extinguishers. While this petition is not scheduled for formal review at a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting, I am sharing the project materials in accordance with the City’s request so that you may review and provide any feedback or concerns. The attached packet includes the site plan, parking layout, aerial images, photos of the home exterior, and supporting documentation.
