Subject: Boardwalk Shop pes sign package
Charlie,
Thanks for speaking with me today to work out the details for the Boardwalk Shoppes sign package. If you could
amend your sign criteria to reflect the changes listed below, I would appreciate it. Once you have made the
changes, please send back to me and I will make a new ADLS Amendment application for you and
administratively approve it. This will allow your tenants to only have to apply for sign permits.
Ai. Letters: Add a phrase to say neon bulbs or LED lights may not be visible through the sign face. To incorporate
back~lit or halo lighting, you could say "internally illuminated or shielded light source to produce a "halo" effect."
The color will be a day/night plex. It will show black during the day and White at night.
A6. and 81. should say "subject to conformance of the City of Carmel Sign Ordinance" instead of Hamilton
County, etc.
Just so you know, under 81., no lighted signs are allowed in the windows except for an open sign under the City
of Carmel's Sign Ordinance. That would require variances and the Board of Zoning Appeals has historically
denied those requests.
Everything else looks fine to me.
Thanks!
Rachel

Dave,
I have looked through the entire file and I cannot find anything that says they made room for the Payless sign to
be red. If the owner can provide that documentation, I'll be happy to accept it. But as of now, it did not happen.
They said every sign would be of uniform color and style. I'll keep looking into it tomorrow...but I don't think I'm
going to find anything different. Just an FYI for you, I'll be out of town all next week. You may still be able to get a
permit while I'm gone, but if we're still having this controversy, it may need to wait until the following week. Sorry.
Have a good night,
Rachel
