Petitioner seeks the following Development Standards Variances:
V-19I-02 ~25.07.02~5(b)(i) two (2) institutional signs
V-192-02 ~25.07.02-5(c)(ii) 24-square-foot changeable copy sign
V-I 93-02 g25.07.02-5(d) 6' 2" ground sign
The site is located at 90D West 136[11 Street. The site is zoned S-l/Residence - Estate.

Institutional Uses.
.SIGN CLASSlFICATION: Wall sign or ground sign.
NUMBER & TYPE:
i) One (1): institutional sign alld
ii) One (1) sign with changeable copy.

i) Institution.al sign: Thirty (30) square feet;
ii) Cha.ngeabiecopy sign: Sixteen (16) square feet
d) MAXIMUM BEIGHTOF GROUN:D SIGN: Five (5) feet.
e) LOCATION: No sign shall be located cioserthan ten (WHeet to the street right-of-
way in residential zones. No sign shall be ioeated closer than :five (5) fe.et to the
street right-of~way in business and manufacturing zones. The sign shall not
interfere with the vision clearance.
f) DESIGN: Must be compatible with the architectural design ofthe structure which
the sign identifi.es.
g) COPY: As per definitions of institutional sign and changeable copy.
h) ILLUlvIlNATION: Permitted.
i) LANDSCAPING: Ground Signs must be accompanied by a landscaped area at least
equal to the total Sign Area.
D REQUJRED APPROVALS: All permanent signs requiring a permit that are
established in the R-5, B-4, B-7, B-8, and M-3 zones or the U.S. Highway 31
Overlay Zone require Commission approval.
k) SIGN PERMIT: Required.
1) FEES: Not required.
The Institutional/Changeable Copy sign being requested is consistent with the signs
previously approved for the Carmel/Clay School Corporation's other elementary school
facilities. A Sign Permit will be required. The Board remedied all other sign issues on this site
on June 24, 2002, per Docket Nos. V -124-02 through V -130-02.
The Department recommends favorable consideration of Docket Nos. V-191-02~ V-192-
02 and V-193-02.
