uewerAge pumping station ~ith the sizes Bnd capacities shown in the
plans; A factory-built station shall include: One monolithic pre-
cast reinforced concrete pump chamber with lid and entrance tube.
The pump chamber shall contain: Two sewBge pumps, motors, fntern81
cast iron piping, automatic pumping level controller, motor starters,
motor protection devices, lighting, sump pump, ventilating blower,
internal wiring and other items specified in detailed specifications.
The entrance tube shall contain entrance hatch with lock and keys, 8ir
ducts and ladder.
PUMP STATION
The underground station shall be prefabricated in two (2) sections by
the manufacturer for ease of installation And shipment. The pump
chamber and lid (section 1) shall be made of waterproof reinforced
concrete (0000 P,SI minimum test) 9.0" 0.0.. g'O" outside height, hl'lve
6" walls, and 8ft floor sloped to the SUEllp. The WillIs and the floor
shall be cast together in one pouring. The electrical conduit sball
be CBst in the walls. The pump chamber lid shall be 8.6" in diameter.
8" thick reinforced concrete and have cast into it an entrance hole
to fit a 42" concrete ,entrance tube. The lid shall be assembled and
sealed to the chamber at the factory and shipped mounted thereon.
CONCRETE PAINTING
The manufacturer shall finish th~ interior walls, ceiling and entrance
tube by painting with special concrete paint, and glazing the finished
walls and ceiling with an acrylic glaze finish. The floor shall be
painted with a grey concrete paint.
ENTRANCE HATCH
The ~t8tion entrance shall extend above the finished grade 88 shown
on the plans. The entrance hatch shall be of steel and insulated so
as to prevent freezing. The batch shall be raintight and fitted with
a handle and positive automatic latching device ~~~n opened, to pre-
vent accidental closing. The entrance hatch shall be furnished with
hasp and lock. Mounted on the entrance tube shall be the stationts
air 1nlet and discharge lines. The air lines shall discharge approxi-
mately 10" below the entranc.e cover. be of metal cQnstructlon and con-
taln an insert screen.

LADDER
The manufacturer shall provide a welded steel ladder with 1-1/4" rails
Bnd 15-- apart and 3/4" steel rings e.8ch 12" apart. The ladder shall
be painted wi.th 2 coats of steel primer and 2 coats of industrial
enamel.
PUMPS
Pumps shall be designed for either intermlttent or continuous 24-hour
day service. Pumps shall be cast iron of the vertical type and shell
be of the n6n-clog type construction. The pumps shall have at least
two sets of ball bearings independent of the motor. The pump shafts
shall be connected to the motor shafts by ~e8nB of 8 flexible coupling.
Each pump shall bave 8 hand hole clean out in its suction 11ne and in-
side volute cBsing, for ease .of maintenance. The pump stUffing box
shall be for grease seal. The pumps shall be 88 minufactured by
Worthington Corporation, Model 4FNC.
PUMP STUFFING BOXES
Pumps ahall be furnished with gre~8e lubricated stuffing boxes. The
manufacturer shall furnish an 8ut~m8tic greasing device that will purge
the pump stuffing box with a predetermined amount of grease each time
the pumps shut off. The grease res.rvoiT shall contain at least 30-
day supply of waterproof grease.

Each pump suction line shall be 6", Class 150 ductile iron pipe with

bronze fitted dOUble disc gate valve shall be p~aced 1n eAch Ruction
line inside the station. Bronze fitted horizontal swing check valves
and bronze fitted double di8c gate valves of 6" size shllll be installed
in the pu~p discharge line. The check VAlves shall be spring and lever
type 80 the clapper CAn be lifted to back flush the pump And suction
line. The, station discharge outlet shall be S,., Class 150 ductile
iron pipe, with plain end. extending approximately 12" out~ide of the
pump c hlllllber.
MOTORS
The motors shall be vert1cal, dripproof, single speed, 7-1/2 H.P.,
1150 RPM squirrel cage, induction for 3 phase, 60 cycle, 230 ~t-_ __~

MOTOR CONTROL (Continued)
Each pump motor shall have hand-olf-automatic switches in the control
circuit to test the pump operation. .Controls shall be mounted in
NEMA 1 steel enclosure.
SE.'WAGE LEVEL CONTROL
To controf the operation of the pumps with variation in sewage level
In the wet well float operated level controllers shall be used. .The
switches shall be totally enclosed and be of the tilting mercury bottle
princi~8l. Each switch shall be independently adjusted. An automatic
al terna tor s hall be prov ide d to rever's e the sequenc e 0 f' oper 8 t i on
upon completion of eRch pumping cycle. Provisions shall be made 50
that both pumps operate i1 the level in th~ wet well rises above a
certain level. The ~wltches shall be 8S manufactured by Con6o~idated
Electric Company,
DI5TRIBUT~ON PANEL
A distribution panel shall be provided. Thermal-magnetic circuit
breakers with dead fronts shall be provided for each service circuit.
S\IIitches shall be labeled. Equipment shall be mounted in NEMA 1 en-
closure.
SUMP PUMP
[nstalled in the sump shall be R submersible sump pump with 1/3 H.P.
motor mounted directly above the impeller. T~e pump shAll have Barform
plastic pump body, bottom plate, and strainer. Th€ motor shall be
enclosed in 8 waterproof, hermetically sealed housing and 5h~ll be
equipped with built-in thermal overload protection. The pump ShAll
have 8 minimum capacity of. 1800 GPH at B total he~d of 20 ft. It
shall disch8rge back into the wet well through f\ 1-1/4" pipe And shall
include two check valves. The pump shall be controlled automatically
by thr~~ electrodes ffibunted in a protective shroud Assembly attached
to the pump.
VENTILATING BLOWER
The ventilating blower shall be capRble of delivering a complete ftir
change in three minutes. The blower and lights sh~ll be. turned on by
an entrance switch 8t the top of the entrance hntch to provide light
Bnd ventilation for anyone entering the ~ump chamber. Two lncandesCftnt
light fixtures mounted on the walls shftll be instAlled.

ELECTRIC HEATER
A 750 watt, 220 volt electric heater shall be supplied with the station.
The heater shall be thermostatically controlled and shall be wired into
the distribution panel and have it's own circuit breaker.
TESTING
All pumps and controls shall be pretested by the manufacturer before
shipment. Ventilating fan, sump pump and 8uxillnry equipment Bhall
be operated. The level controls shall be checked for proper operation
and determined to be operable for the specific levels to be Maintained
on this project.
WIRING
The pump station controls sn8ll be completely wired at the fActory
except for the power deeder line8 in accordance with NHtional Electric
Code. All wiring 1n the pump station shAll be of the colo~s indicated
on the wiring diagram. All wiring out'slde the panel s hall be
in conduit, cast in the walls except for 110 volt accessory items which
are provided with connecting insulated cable by the manufacturer. The
contractor ahall furnish temporary electrical power immediately upon
Installation of ihe lilt station. The contractor shell wire the entrAnce
switch and' run permanent power to the control panel,after the pump
station i8 installed.
WARRANTY
The manufacturer of the lift station shall warrant for one year from
the date of shipment that the equipment shall be free from defects in
design materials and workmanship. The lift 9t~tion manufacturer shall
lurnish replacement parts proven defective, whether of his or other
manufacturer during the warranty period excepting only those items
which are normally consumed in service such 8S light bulbs, oil, gresse,
pecking, etc. Failure of the contractor to furnish electrical power
,to the sta~ion immediately after installation voids this warranty.
