Followihg the March 19,:::2003 review ,of the Landscape D~velopment Plan, you'
indicated thatthe number of proposed trees a'nd shrubs isnot acceptable.

1. Five or six existing trees on the site and within the proposed right-ot-way are
to be removed., .
2. IIAutumn Brilliancell Serviceberry trees will replace the Hawthorn trees adjacent
to the public walk as per your recommendation.
3. The triangular configuration of the site contributes to some degree of difficulty in
the layout of parking and walks. Space forbuilding foundation planting is limited
along the south and west sides. However, planting space is provided along the
entire south face of the building except for the entry. The west facade walk is
against the building, consequently, shrubs and trees are located outside the wal k
rather than at the foot of the building.
4. The landscapedevelopmeJi)tis inteudE,!d to <:omplement the proposed
architectural setting while providing a heqJthy, attractive environment for office
activities and personnel.
. Canopy trees spaced for fu II growth wi II
provide perimeter and parking area shade
and soften views of the office building.
· Ornamental and evergreen trees serve as
seasonal interest at key focal points.
o Shrubs and groundcover add low level
interest along the building foundation
and partially screen the parking area
In summary, the proposed landscape will ultimately enhance the site, it's
architecture and setting while reflecting the quality image of Carmel.
Sincerely,
c V2~ LL
