DEPARTMENT REPORT

3. Docket No. 08060013 ADLS Amend: USTA - Signage
The applicant seeks approval for a new directory ground sign and a building address sign. The site
is located at 1310 E. 96th St. and is zoned PUD. Filed by Mark Saunders of Midwest Youth Tennis
and Education Foundation.
The petitioner seeks approval of a new ground directory sign and address numbers on the Tennis
Association building. The ground sign will be 20 sq. fl. and less than 5-feet tall. It will be internally
illuminated and encased in a brick surround and limestone cap. The names will shine through white. It
will have the names of the three tenants in the building, along with the Tennis Hall of Fame. The sign will
be placed at the parking lot entrance to the building. It will be in an already existing landscaped bed. This
sign is allowed per the Sign Ordinance under the Multi-Tenant, Multi-Level building section.
An address sign is also proposed. Three options were submi Lted for review. The Deparunent feels that the
letters just below the sil ver banding, not on the same fal{ade as the Midwest sign and logo would be best.
The placement of the numbers is ok becausl;; the petitioner would like for people to be able Lo see it from
many angles. Part of the building may block the view if it is placed more towards the center. It will be
made of PVC and will not be illuminated. The numbers will be white. The total square footage is 6.625.
This is allowed per the Sign Ordinance.
The Dept. or Community Services recommends the Committee approve this item, after all
questions/concerns are addressed.
