Introduction
This report details the proposed drainage for the new Mark Swanson Associates Office
site located on northwest corner of intersection of l06lh Street and Park Avenue and is
bounded by the l06lh Street to the south, by Park A venue to the east, by Ruckle Road to
the west, and undeveloped site to the north in Carmel, IN.
Pre-Developed Conditions
The site presently is undeveloped. Under existing conditions, O.70-Acre site contains of
the grass area. A soil map from United States Department of Agriculture Soil
Conservation Service identifies Crosby (CrA) and Brookston (Br) soils on the property
and is included in this report.
Existing drainage characteristics are such that the site generally flows from a high point
on south-east corner across the site and ultimately discharges into existing ditch along
east side of Ruckle Road which directly flows to the drain, as shown on the existing
drainage map included in this report. There is no offsite drainage affecting this site.
Post-Developed Conditions
Proposed drainage for the developed site consists constnlction of two separated system of
new storm inlets and connecting pipes. Storm sewer system on the east side will flow
into the existing storm sewer system along Park A venue. The developed portion of the

site on the west side along with overland flow from south portion will discharge into the
existing ditch along east side of Ruckle Road.
Criteria
To establish the lO-year storm allowable peak discharge, hydrographs are generated and
added accounting for the 2-year storm generated by the onsite drainage area at the pre-

generated and simulated accounting for the runoff generated by the onsite area during the
10-year storm at pre-developed conditions.
Outlet Structure
The outlet structure to the existing ditch consists of 2 "orifice detail and also 6" orifice
controls the flow discharging from Basins 3B and 4 on the east portion of the side. Per
verified as-built information, existing pipe along Park Avenue has the capacityof2.74
cfs. Based on calculations provided in this report, the discharge rate of the proposed
stom1 pipe 12"RCP is 1.15 cfs and will not exceed the discharge rate at existing
conditions.
Simulation
The simulation of the system was performed using rCPR, which is advanced storm water
modeling software and the Tr-55 method with the SCS Type II rainfall data and 1, 2, 3, 6,
12, and 24 hours storm duration for the 2-year, 10-year and 1 DO-year storm event. The
1 OO-year peak discharge from the pond should not exceed the 1 O-year pre-developed
allowable peak discharge.
