V It/uJ \'r rs '0:\ . /^- "/j> ~/ ~Q:cr~ March 19, 2003 Dear Special Study Committee Members, My name is Matt Frey and I am the Managing Member of Matt and Rachel LLC operating as Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream located at 210 West Main Street, Carmel, Indiana. After growing up in Carmel and graduating from Ball State, job opportunities took me to cities such as Grand Rapids, Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nashville, Tennessee and Kalamazoo, lVlichigan. I am very excited to move back to Carmel to own and operate Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream. We move back to Carmel on Friday, March 29th and plan to open mid-April. Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream is an independent restaurant with the goal to have multiple locations VJithin a five- year business plan. The menu will offer the lib. Big Ugly Burger as well as other specialty burgers. It will also include a chicken and fish sandwich as well as a salad option. Sides of French fries and onion rings will be sold separately in baskets and drinks will include milk shakes, soft drinks and bottled beer and wine. I am submitting the ADLS Application (Docket Number 51-03) and seeking amended Architectural Design, Lighting, Landscaping and Signage approval for two ground signs. The location is zoned B-2/Business and is within the Character Sub Area of the Old Town Overlay District. One sign is located on Main Street and the other is located on Second Street next to the Monon Trail.(see attached site plan). The ordinance for Main Street allows 6' tall (30 sq. ft. total) and the Manon ordinance allows 6' tall (40 sq. ft. total). Both signs for Bub's are 5' tall (30 sq. ft. total). In essence, I anl requesting two signs that arc under the maximum height and square footage according to the permittable sign dimensions. The presentation should include information relative to the project and should be presented on a poster board so that it can be seen from 20 feet. In addition, reduced packets (8-1/2" x 11 ") packets of the poster board proj ect information should be handed out for each Plan Commission member. 7. Petitioner or representative must'attend the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting on Wednesday following the Plan Commission Meeting. 8.
