They plan to re-open them as soon as possible. Many of the former staff members are expected to return and the business names will remain. The initial plan is to reopen the existing facility with little to no changes. During our preliminary investigation, it was determined that some modifications to the facility would be beneficial for the business and enhance the customer's experience. The changes may be implemented in phases, but could occur continuously. Some of the potential changes are listed below: · Reconfigure and update restrooms. · Reconfigure Deeter's entrance area. · Reconfigure some of the dining areas. · Add windows to the front of restaurant. · Swap entrances and avmings. · Add a ramp for handicap accessibility to the current "Glass Chimney" entrance. · Add an awning over the outdoor seating area at the Northwest corner of the building. · Replace overgrovm landscaping at the perimeter of the building. · Add on to the building for additional bar area on the east side of the building. This addition would be behind the existing building. At some future time, maybe five to ten years from now, it is anticipated that the whole building will be demolished and replaced with a multi-story and multi-use structure that will comply with the Old Meridian Corridor overlay. This reconstruction will likely need to be coordinated with adjoining properties due to current access and parking agreements. Our request of the Special Studies Committee at this time is to provide input on the proposed interim changes and aid us in an understanding of what will be acceptable and permittable to keep these restaurants that have been a part of Carmel for over 30 years going into the future. ;.r ~~:.!:r.;...~ ~;.:.,~,. ~ 4 I :_"_ r ~,~~ '...~ Glass Chimney, Old Meridian St., Carmel, IN ~':;;.::'>??-" ,~" ' ..~~.
