RE: CI'T1° CODE VIOLATION — PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Dear Mr. Watkins:
This letter is being provided to inform you that this Department has some concerns regarding the
condition of the property and as well as the safety of the structure located upon the property at 994
Doe Run Driive, a property listed under your ownership.
Please be advised that Sections 6-222(c) of the Carmel City Code construes the following
conditions to be Public Nuisances affecting peace and safety:
(16) Doors. All exterior doors, door assemblies and hardware shall be maintained
in good condition. Locks at aii entrances to dwelling units, rooming units and
guestrooms shall tightly secure the door, however, no double dead bolts shall be
permitted for the, structure's main escape
Also note that the cond!itiions outlined in Section 6-226(b), of the Carmel City Code suggest the
above -mentioned structure may be in violation of Carmel City Code.
(3) Locked Doors. All means of egress doors shall be readily operable from the
side from egress is to be made without the need for keys, special knowledge or
effort, except where the door hardware conforms to that permitted by the
international Building Code or International Residential Code.
Please ensure that your property conforms to these codes as presented above. If any corrections
are required to bring your property into compliance with the Carmel City Code, please make these
corrections as soon as possible. Failure to bring your property into compliance with these codes
could result in further enforcement action. If you have any questions; regarding thiis matter, please
