2J. Docket No. 08060016 ADLS: St. Vincent Heart Center Helipad
The applicant seeks approval for a helipad. The site is located at 10330 North Meridian
Street and is zoned B6/Business, within the US 31 Overlay District. Filed by Paul
Clendenen of SL Vincent Health, [nc.
The applicant seeks design approval for a proposed helipad. There will be no additional signage.
There will be perimeter and obstruction lighting to define the landing area. Please refer to the
petitioner's information packet for more detail.
As a side note, the petitioner will appear before the Board of Zoning Appeals on August 25, for Use
Variance approval of the hclipad land use,
Staff comments/concerns/Questions:
I. What is the total number of anticipated flights per month/year/etc at this location?
2. Please provide the estimated frequency of use of this type of helipad by providing the number
of runs per day/week/month at similar instilutions, and al what times of day they occur most.
3. Do any of the flight palhs take the helicopter over any residences, and if so, at what altitude?
4. Whal is the typical decibel level in proximity to a helipad?
5. Where will the patients typically be flown in from7
6, How much time will placing the helipad at the Heart Hospital save, as opposed to driving the
patient down from the Conseco helipad?
7. Is there any additional equipment that would need to be installed, i.e. for radio
communications, ete?
8. Please provide more detail on the removable helipad with photos or renderings of existing
sites.
9. Dept of Engineering Comments: updates will be given at the meeting.
10. Dept of Forestry Comments: updates will be given at the meeting.
The Department of Community Services recommends the Commission send this item to the
September 2 Special Studies Committee meeting. Or, if comfortable with the project, vote to
approve this item, after all questions and concerns are addressed.
