Ref:Request For Amending Of I~provement
Location Permit Ordinance~
Gentlemen:
After having worked with.zoning for the past months, the
one item that is needed most and tb.a.t is enforcement'~ So many'
of the builders in the Township ignore the law and do not come
in for permitst even after I have warned them~ This failure on
a few permits will mean a loss of revenue for the Commission~
In talking with the attorney about this problem, Mrs. Webb,
she advised me that the penalty was ommitted due to the cost of
printing and publication:~ Now that we ha.ve the law on the bdtoks,
she nQi"T advises that it ,1111 be simple to amend only the Improv-
emant Location Permit Ordinanoet which is only t'\'10 (2) pages in
lenghth and I understand that the cost of publishing this in the
paper would be about $15~OO, or one (1) permit.
Therefore, the Offica of Building Commissioner would then
request that the Board of Trustees would order the Plan Commiss-
ion to hold any and all publiC hearings necessary and report
their findings to the Board of Trustees as to the advisibility
of amending the Improvement Location Permit Ordinance by adding
the f"ollewing penalty, said penalty being provided by Burns
Indiana Statuest to-wit:
, , II A person who violates a provision of this Ordinance
~shall_be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall
be fined not less than Ten ($lO~OO) Dollars and not more than
three Hundred ($300~'OO) Dollarsl'~
