Please check with our Building Permits Department to see if you need any type of permit for erecting the wall/fence. I assume it will have footers... Their number is 317-571-2444. Also, attached is an email from David Lucas of the County Highway Dep1, stating their preference on the fence/wall location. You may have to further correspond with them if you want to place the fence/wall within the future road right of way. Yes, most of the subdivisions in tha.t area were platted prior to the current Thoroughfare Plan. The R/W and standards have changed since. To answer your question, we would prefer that the fence be constructed outside of future R/W. If the resident is applying for any permits through this office, "ve will make the condition that all fences, landscaping, sprinkler systems, permanent structures, etc be constructed outside of future R/W. In this instance, if permits are not needed, we rely on the local Planning Commission or anyone issuing building permits to dictate the location. please let me know if you need any additional information.
