HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC-12-15-08-06 Keystone Constr/ FAILED/refer to Minutes for infoSPONSOR: Councilor RESOLUTION CC-I2-15-08-06 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 9ARMEI INDIANA, REGARDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF KEYSTONFi/AVENUE WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Carmel, Inahd (" ity) entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana and obtained rights to Keystq(te v nue from 96`h Street to 146`h Street; and \\ WHEREAS; construction is in process on Ke n Avenue at the intersections of 106`h and 126`" Street based on certain contracts entered\r o the' City and approved by the Board of Public Works; and WHEREAS, the Mayor citizens of Carmel that the $90 Million ample flumding to construct the improver 4d to the Common Council and the to the City by the State of Indiana was ystone Avenue intersections; and WHEREAS, the Mayor hash6w iotified the Common Council that additional funding will be required to compl to e pr ,enients lie originally presented to the Common Council and the citizens of Carmel; id WHERL wt its uestioas have arisen concerning the construction oversight, cost and use of in'll fort Keystone Avenue project; and WHE S Ordi\ lice D-1921-08 was entered into business of the Common Council on December 1, 08 r questing additional funding for the Keystone Avenue Project in the amount of $28,500,00 , WHERE Ordinance D-1921-08 has been assigned by the President of the Common Council to me Finance, Administration and Rules Committee and the Utilities, Transportation.and P lic Safety Committee for review; and REAS, the Mayor notified the Common Council and the citizens of Carmel at the Comm Council meeting on December 1, 2008, that the Board of Public Works has tentatively proved the construction contract for the improvements to the intersection of Keystone i nd 136`h Street pending receipt of the next installment of $20 Million from the State of India a for Keystone Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the construction contract for the intersection of Keystone and 136`h Street not be awarded until the Common Council completes its review and analysis of the Keystone Avenue Project and its consideration of Ordinance D-1921-08:. Section 2. That the City of Cannel should not enter into any further contractual or additional service agreements for or related to any other road projects until the Common Council completes its review and analysis of the Keystone Project and its considerations of Ordinance D-1921-08 at a future meeting of the Common Council. Section 3. That the work on intersections of Keystone at 106'h and 126`' Streets be completed.
