CARMEL REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Meeting, Wednesday,
October 22, 2008
Ron Carter called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. Commission members Jeff Worrell
and Bill Hammer were present. Also present were Mayor Brainard, Les Olds, Sherry
Mielke, Andrea Stumpf, and Matt Worthley.
Others present:
Bruce Stauffer, Dan Moriarity, Rick Osborne, Melanie Hayes, Brandon Bogan, RCM
Excavating, LLC representatives
Bid Opening: Parcel 47 - Below Grade Removals
Les Olds explained the bids to be opened were for the “below grade removals” of
hazardous items which is a separate bid package and will be based on unit prices. The
Construction Manager is to open the bids and read the basic price and supply an outline
of all unit prices for the project. He will report back to the Commission with a
recommendation.
Bruce Stauffer, Construction Manager with Keystone Construction Corp., opened and
read the bids aloud for the Parcel 47 Carmel Arts District Lofts – Below Grade
Removals. [Please see attached bid tab sheet]
Mr. Olds explained the complicated nature of the bids due to factoring in the unit prices.
The range estimate for the project is $400,000 - $800,000. Because the work is below
grade, the unit prices are a critical piece because the extent of the contamination can not
be absolutely determined.
Old Business
No old business at this time.
New Business
Mr. Carter requested an update on the Parcel 47 project. Mr. Olds explained the
demolition contractor has moved on to the site to remove the asbestos materials from the
building. After the removal work is complete, the demolition contractor, National
Salvage, will begin tearing down the buildings.
Adjournment
Mr. Hammer moved the meeting be adjourned and seconded by Mr. Worrell. The
meeting was adjourned at 8:37 a.m.
