RESOLUTION NO. CC-02-02-09-01
WHEREAS, the City's Ethics Ordinance, codified as City Code Section 2-184, requires a Statement of
Economic Interests to be created by the City of Carmel Ethics Board and approved by the Common Council; and
WHEREAS, a Statement of Economic Interests was created and adopted by the Ethics Board on or about
January 6, 2009, a copy of which Statement is attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, this Statement of Economic Interests has now been submitted to the Common Council for its
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as
follows:
Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. Pursuant to City Code Section 2-184(e), the Statement of Economic Interests attached hereto as
Exhibit A is hereby approved and adopted.

STATEMENT OF ECONOMICINTERESTS.FOR AND REGARDING CALENDAR YEAR 20

For purposes of this; Statement, the following definitions apply:
"Agency",means every department, office, boom; commission and committee of the City, including; but not limited to, the:Board.
"Board" means the City of Carmel Board of Ethics:
"Business Entity" means a sole pfopdetorship, partnership, unincorporated association, trust, film, corporation and/or limited
liability company <
"City" means the City of Carmel, Hamilton;County,_Indiana.
"Compensation" means any money, thing; of value, service or economic benefit conferred upon or received by any Elected
Official, Officer or Employee from any Person except the-City or an Agency'in_return for services rendered or to be rendered, but
does not mean items or property excluded herein from {he.defnition of Gigs orHonoraria.
"Elected Official" means the City's duly elected. Mayor,;Clerk-Treasurer and Common Council members
"Employee'.' means any individual, other than an Elected Official„who is employed by the City under-an express or implied
contract to hire and as to whom the City has the.right to control the details of his(her work, performance.
"Gifts or Honoraria" meawnroney or other property which is transferred to an-Elected Official, Officer or Employee without
reasonable,value being provided forsame by said Elected Official, Officer or Employee, but does not include:
a Food or drink consumed by. an Elected Official, Officer or Employee or a member of hislherImmediate Family, during
the conduct of official City business or at public ceremonies; or
b., Mementos or souvenirs of,noniinal value received at public ceremonies or commemoraling,official City business; or
c. Invitations or tickets to political fund raising dinnersror public events when used by an Elected Official, Officer or
Employee or a member of hislber Immediate Family;, or
d, Food or drink consumed by an,Elected Official, Official or Employee imconnectien with official,City business at a
convention, reception orgathering.of othenpublic officials and/or municipal employees.
e. Travol or other expenses paid or reimbursed as a result of:speaking engagements, educational traming,or personal
appearances made as a.result of or by virtue of an Elected Official's, Officer's, or Employee's official position or
duties.
"Immediate Family" means:
a..A spouse, brother or sister, stepbrother or step-sister, or
b. Any child, {natural'onadopted} who is unemancipated'•and less than eighteen (18) years old and/or who
receives more -than ffty-percent (5Q64 of I'iislhersupport from the Employee„ Elected Official or_Officer andlar
his/her spouse; or
c. A parent or step-parent of the Employee, Officer pr Elected. Official, or:ef,hislher spouse.

EXHIBIT
"Material Interest" means ownership of five percent (5%) or more of a Business Entity, except for an interest that is no greater
than that which is cumulatively held by the general public.
"Mayor" means the Mayor of the City.
"Officer" means a,natural person appointed to an office or position in any Agency.
"Pecuniary Interest" means an interest which results or is reasonably intended to result in an ascertainable increase in the
income or net worth of an Elected Official, Officer or Employee, or a member of hisfher Immediate Family.
"Person" means any individual, association, corporation, or other legal entity, and the masculine gender includes the feminine.
I have received from a Business Entity doing business with the City or. an Agency the following Gifts or Honoria having an
estimated aggregate value in excess of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00):
Neither I nor any member of my Immediate Family, had a Pecuniary Interest in any contract with the City or with any Agency
except as follows:
