After our conversation on Tuesday, I was able to discuss this issue with legal counsel. Since the size of the reduction is more than a minor alteration, including total elimination of the second floor, the Board should make the call on this. DOCS will be supportive of the variance(s), and recommends utilizing the BZA hearing officer; shooting for ~ 2 public hearing, before the Plan Commission committee meeting which will meet at s:oo.. /fin I Christine brought up the issue of parking. I'm wondering what the timing will be for construction of the primary building. Would appreciate your comments on these issues. Thanks, Mike From: Holmes, Christine B Sent: Thursday, March 19, 2009 11:15 AM To: Conn, Angelina V; 'Jon Dobosiewicz' Cc: Hollibaugh, Mike P; 'Charlie Frankenberger'; Worthley, Matthew D Subject: RE: VFW -Old Meridian Jon, In reading through the packet and Dept report, it looks as though these two issues have been taken care of with the report Angie linked below. The building proposed was to be 8700 square feet, but 1700 of that was to be the second floor, and the footprint was 7000 square feet. Therefore, they're already approved for a smaller building at that location. Do you know yet how many seats/employees etc will be there? There were some concerns with having adequate parking at the previous hearings, and the VFW is likely to require more parking than a veterinary office. It includes the back of the building as they requested and is about 0.9 acres instead of 0.15 acres which should make them very happy.
