RE: CARMEL CITY CODE VIOLATION —ABANDONED VEHICLE & DEBRIS
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is being provided to inform you that it has recently been brought to the City's attention
that at 506 Smokey Row Road, a property listed under your ownership, abandoned vehicles are
being stored on the property. It is a violation of Carmel City Code § 6-114 which states:
"Because of the danger to the health from vermin, the danger of personal injury to children
attracted by such vehicles, danger of fire by the storage of gasoline and oil thereon, any
abandoned, unlicensed, inoperable, disassembled, wrecked or junked motor vehicle on any
street or public property for more than five days or upon any private property for more than 15
days, except as hereinafter provided, is declared to be a nuisance and unlawful."
The vehicle located in the driveway can be stored inside a completely enclosed garage legally. If it
continues to remain where it is now located, further enforcement action may result, which can
include an appearance in Carmel City Court and the assessment of fines.
Furthermore, the inspection revealed that the property is in violation of the Carmel City
Code, §6-77(k), which construes the following conditions to be public health nuisances:
(k) Any accumulation of junk, rubbish, scrap metal, automotive parts,
building materials, machinery, dead trees, or parts thereof, upon any
premises in a residential area.
Please either relocate the vehicle as directed or remove it from the property by April 9, 2009. If

We have received the letter regarding your concerns about wrecked autos in the driveway
at 506 W. Smokey Row and Roher Road. A copy of your letter has been forwarded to our
Department of Community Services. A city inspector will be scheduled to come out and
take a look at this situation. The inspector will give his comments and make any
recommendations he feels are appropriate to the Director of the Department of
Community Services.
A representative of the Department of Community Services will be contacting you
regarding the outcome of this situation. As your return address and phone number was
not included in the letter, I took the liberty of researching your contact information. I
believe that Kensington Place is the street on which you reside and that your phone
number is 569-1319. Will you please contact me if this information is incorrect?
