It first appeared during the First World War achieving instant approv- al as an acceptable alternate to the ever popular Acorns. It figured largely in the first integrated street lighting system of Cleveland, Ohio ' and went on over the next 30 or so years to be produced and sold coast to coast by at least three major manufacturers. ' Variously known as the Tallmadge Lantern, Tudor, Edgewater, Octagonal and Cleveland it graced the streets and parks of literally thousands of communi- ' ties right across the continent. An Illuminating Future ' King Luminaire has elected to revive the original GE Nomenclature of the "Octagonal novalux form 56". The Octagonal today is available in the ' Cleveland version (without spurs) and as the Tudor (with spurs). While the physical appearance of the K56 is ' completely authentic, King Luminaire has totally redesigned the optical system, offering excellent photometric ' performance in IES Type III & V patterns with a wide variety of HID light sources. The rugged cast aluminum construction and modular ballast assembly of the K56 ensure low cost and easy mainte- ' nance, while for the first time a twistlock receptacle for a photocell is offered as ' an option. 1 1 ~~~~ ~~J~~~~~~ L l I K56 Features at a Glance: • Authentic reproduction of original luminaire • Sturdy cast aluminum frame • Versatility of post top or pendant mounting • Available with spurs (Tudor) or without (Cleveland) • Durability of polycarbonate or acrylic prismatic panels • Available with various HID light sources up to 250 W • IES Type III or V • CSA approved Available IETL Options • Wide base 7" ring adapter (3-1/2" OD slipfitter is standard for post top application) • Twist lock receptacle for photocell • Historic K5 Amherst capital (with wide base unit) • Plumbizer (pendant only) • Available in most colors (black is standard) • A variety of finials is available on request (traditional spike is standard) Retrofit Capabilities As the leader in the field of retrofitting ornamental luminaires, King has achieved the capability to rejuvenate all versions of the historic K56. Ask us about our facilities to reVOfit to H ID light sources, or completely upgrade old units to modern performance standards. We welcome your challenge.
