In the marketing and sales of our high end subdivisions on the West side of Carmel I am continually asked about the nearest retail services/convenience area(s) on the West side of Carmel. Many buyers who are looking to move into Carmel from other parts of the country have expectations that there would be commercial conveniences in close proximity to their residences. They are often discouraged at the lack of diversity and uses west of Meridian. It is for that reason that I encourage you to plan for a special area West of Meridian that would include such services as offices, retail uses including grocery options, hospitality, medical, etc. It is apparent to me that the best place to create such a node would be in the area of 116th and US31, West to Spring Mill Rd. Housing is not an appropriate or best use for this area. Sincerely, Ivan Barratt
