RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION — NO SIGN PERMIT
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is being provided to inform you that a sign violation has been brought to this
department's attention. The sign(s) is located in the common area of the Lakeside Park subdivision
and advertises for Drees Homes, in the City of Carmel. All signs located in Clay Township are
required to have sign permits according to Section 25.07.07 of the Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance
which states the following:
Except as otherwise provided in this Ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person
to establish any sign within the jurisdictional area of this Ordinance, or cause the
same to be done without first obtaining a sign permit for each sign from the
Administrator as required by this Ordinance.
This sign had a permit at one point, but that permit has now expired. Also, please note that the
illumination of this sign is not permitted under Chapter 25.07.03-01(h) of the Carmel Clay Zoning
Ordinance which outlines that illumination is not permitted in Subdivision Construction Signs.
Therefore, the illumination of this sign must cease immediately and the lights must be removed. To
obtain the renewal of the sign permit, please contact Rachel Boone at (317) 571-2417. Please
renew the sign permit or remove this illegal sign and ensure that the lighting equipment is removed
no later than February 20, 2009. Failure to do so will result in further enforcement action which
may include the issuance of citations and a summons to Carmel City Court. If you have any
