TEMPORARY PERMANENT SEEDING
PREPARATION OF GROUND BEFORE SEEDING
THE AREA TO BE SEEDED SHALL BE MADE SMOOTH AND UNIFORM AND SHALL BE
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FINISHED GRADES SHOWN ON THE PLANS. IT SHALL
HAVE BEEN GIVEN FINAL TRIMMING IN ACCORDANCE WITH IDOT STANDARD 210_
THE SEED BED, IF NOT LOOSE, SHALL BE LOOSENED TO A MINIMUM DEPTH OF
3 INCHES BEFORE FERTILIZER OR SEED IS APPLIED.
APPLYING FERTIUZER, SEED, AND MULCH
FERTILIZER. FtiI1UZER AS SHALL BE SPREAD UNIFORMLY OVER THE AREA TO
BE SEEDED. FERTILZER SHALL BE SPREAD AT THE RATE OF 800 POUNDS PER
ACRE.
SEED. SEED MAY BE DRILLED IN OR MIXED WITH WATER, BUT SHALL NOT BE
COVERED MORE THAN 1/2 OF AN INCH OF SOIL THE MIXTURE MAY BE APPUED
BY A HAND OPERATED CYCLONE SEEDER OR OTHER APPROVED EQUIPMENT.
MULCH. MULCHING MATERIAL SHALL BE APPUED UNIFORMLY IN A CONTINUOUS
BLANKET AT THE RATE OF 2 TONS PER ACRE. MULCHING MATERIAL SHALL BE
PUNCHED INTO THE SOIL SO THAT IT IS PARTIALLY COVERED. AFTER
PROCEDURES FOR HOLDING THE MULCH IN PLACE HAVE BEEN COMPLETED,
THE AREA SHALL BE WATERED THOROUGHLY. THE SEED OR SOIL BENEATH IT
SHALL NOT BE DISPLACED. THE MULCHING MATERIAL SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN
PLACE SATISFACTORILY UNTIL FINAL COMPLETION AND ACCEPTANCE OF
THE CONTRACT.
SEED MIXTURES
THIS IS A GENERAL PURPOSE SEED MIXTURE AND SHALL BE APPUED AT THE
RATE OF 170 POUNDS PER ACRE. THE MIXTURE SHALL CONSIST OF 95 POUNDS
OF KENTUCKY 31 FESCUE OR APPROVED EQUAL, 65 POUNDS PERENNIAL RYEGRASS,
AND 10 POUNDS JASPER RED FESCUE OR APPROVED EQUAL GRASS SEED IN THE
QUANTITIES AND VARIETIES REQUIRED SHA',L. BE FURNISHED FULL TAGGED AND
DELIVERED IN PROPERLY DESIGNATED PACKAGES OR BAGS AS DIRECTED.
SEEDS SHALL CONTAIN NONE OF THE NOXIOUS WEEDS LISTED HEREIN, FOR ANY
THAT ARE USTED IN THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE.
NOXIOUS WEEDS ARE: CANADA THISTLE, FIELD BINDWEED, JOHNSON GRASS,
PERENNIAL PEPPERGRASS, PERENNIAL SOWTHISTLE, QUACK GRASS, RUSSIAN
KNAPWEED, AND WILD GARUC.
SEED SHALL BE PURCHASED FROM SOURCES OF SUPPLY THAT HAVE BEEN SAMPLED,
TESTED, AND REPORTED BY THE STATE SEED COMMISSION, PURDUE UNIVERSITY,
WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA, AND FOUND BE SATISFACTORY. THIS REPORT IS
REQUIRED BEFORE SEED IS SOWN. SUCH TEST REPORT SHALL BE NO MORE THAN
9 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME SEED IS USED AND THE USE OF THE SEED SHALL BE
SUBJECT TO APPROVAL SEED WHICH HAS BEEN TESILD BY THE STATE SEED
