OWNER AS TO THEIR FUTURE RESPONSIBILTIES.
7. IT IS THE RESPONSIBLITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO ACQUAINT
THEMSELVES WITH THE SOIL CONDITIONS.
8. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO
IDENTIFY WHETHER AN EXISTING IRRIGATION SYSTEM IS
PRESENT ON SITE AND WITHIN THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
AREA. IF AN EXISTING IRRIGATION SYSTEM IS PRESENT
AND WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE NEW CONSTRUCTION,
IT IS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO
EMPLOY AN IRRIGATION SUBCONTRACTOR TO REVIEW THE
EXISTING SYSTEM. THE IRRIGATION SUBCONTRACTOR
SHALL MODIFY THE EXISTING IRRIGATION SYSTEM AS
NECESSARY TO ASSURE THE SYSTEM'S INTEGRITY,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ADDING OR MODIFYING
AND DELETING EXISTING IRRIGATION HEADS, VALVE BOXES,
WIRING OR OTHER ELEMENTS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE IRRIGATION.
9. ROOF DRAINS, FOUNDATION DRAINS AND OTHER CLEAN
WATER DISCHARGE ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE SANI-
TARY SEWER FACILITY.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RECOGNIZE RESPECTIVE WORK OF
OTHERS AND SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING LOCATION,
SIZE AND ELEVATION OF THE EXISTING UTILITIES, STRUCT-
URES, PIPES, PAVEMENTS, ETC. AS RELATED TO THEIR
WORK. NOTIFY ARCHITECT /ENGINEER OF ANY CONFLICT
AND OR DISCREPANCIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS,
PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSULT ARCHITECTURAL PLUMB-

EXACT LENGTHS REQUIRED FOR ACTUAL INSTALLATION.

16. FOR PIPE 15- INCHES DIAMETER AND SMALLER: PIPE,

RATIO OF THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE PIPE TO WALL

17. FOR PIPE 18- INCHES DIAMETER AND LARGER: PIPE, FITTINGS,

WITH A T -1 WALL THICKNESS.
18. JOINT SYSTEMS SHALL BE ELASTOMERIC SEAL (GASKET)

19. ALL SERVICE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MADE USING A WYE

THE CITY. TEES AND WYES SHALL BE DIE CAST OR FACTORY
FABRICATED. ALL SERVICE PIPE SHALL BE SDR 35.
20. CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING PIPING SHALL BE MADE USING
FLEXIBLE REPAIR COUPLING BY FERNCO OR EQUAL.
21. TRENCHES FOR ALL UTILITIES SHALL BE BACKFILLED COM-
PLETELY WITH APPROVED ENGINEERED GRANULAR MATERIAL
SUITABLE TO THE A /E. SEE THE APPROPRIATE DETAILS
AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE APPROVED MATERIALS.
22. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO INSPECT
EACH DAY AND REMOVE ALL MUD, DIRT, GRAVEL AND LOOSE
MATERIALS TRACKED, DUMPED, SPILLED OR WIND BLOWN
FROM THE SITE ONTO OTHER SITES, RIGHT OF WAYS, PUBLIC
OR PRIVATE STREETS OR ROADS, DRIVEWAYS, YARDS OR
SIDEWALKS. THE CONTRACTOR MUST CLEAN OR PICK UP
DAILY IF NECESSARY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REDUCE THE
AIRBORNE DUST DURING THE ENTIRE CONSTRUCTION
SCHEDULE. WATER MAY BE USED AS A REDUCER.
23. ALL AREAS DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL
HAVE TEMPORARY SEEDING AND MULCHING INSTALLED
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
24. ALL PAVEMENT PATCHING DUE TO UTILITIES INSTALLATION:
CONSTRUCTION OF CURBS ETC., OR DAMAGE TO EXISTING
PAVEMENTS DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE PATCHED
WITH A PAVEMENT SECTION WHICH MEETS OR EXCEEDS
THE EXISTING SECTION BY THE CONTRACTOR DOING THE
WORK.
ALL WATER MAIN AND SEWER PIPING SHALL BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
INDIANA CODE AND IDEM REGULATIONS
AIR PRESSURE ACCEPTANCE TEST
1) CONTRACTOR SHALL PREFORM AN AIR PRESSURE TEST ON ALL GRAVITY
SEWER PIPE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM F -1417 SPECIFICATIONS.
2) THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FUNISH ALL EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS LABOR, AND
CONDUCT THE TEST UNDER OBSERVATION OF CITY PERSONNEL.
3) TEST METHOD:
A) LOW PRESSURE AIR TEST METHOD SHALL BE THE TIME PRESSURE
DROP METHOD. THE PRESSURE USED IN THE TEST SHALL BE THE
STATED PRESSURE GREATER THAN THE AVERAGE BACK PRESSURE OF
ANY GROUND WATER ABOVE THE PIPE. THE TIME REQUIRED FOR
THE PRESSURE IN THE TEST SECTION TO DROP 1.0 psig SHALL
BE MEASURED USING A STOP WATCH. IF THE TIME EXCEEDS THE
TIME DETERMINED FROM ASTM F -1417, THE SECTION FAILS.
B) MANHOLES AIR TEST IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM C1244 -93
STANDARD TEST METHOD FOR CONCRETE SEWER MANHOLES BY
NEGATIVE AIR PRESSURE TEST (VACUUM).
FORCE MAIN AND WATER MAIN PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE TESTS
1) CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL EQUIPMENT, LABOR, AND MATERIALS
NECESSARY FOR THE HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE TEST ON ALL
MAINS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF CITY PERSONNEL.
2) TESTS PRESSURE SHALL BE 100 PSI OR 150% OF NORMAL PIPE OPERATING
PRESSURE, WHICH EVER IS GREATER.
3) LEAKAGE TEST PRESSURE SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN THE MAXIMUM
OPERATING PRESSURE OF THE PIPE. THE DURATION OF THE LEAKAGE
TEST SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN TWO HOURS. ALLOWABLE LEAKAGE
SHALL NOT EXCEED 9 gal /in OF PIPE DIAMETER PER MILE OF PIPE IN 24hr.
DEFLECTION TEST OF PVC SEWER PIPE
1) VERTICAL RING DEFLECTION- BEFORE FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF SEWER LINES,
ALL SECTIONS OF SEWER PIPE 8- INCHES AND LARGER SPECIFIED DIAMETER
SHALL BE MEASURED FOR VERTICAL RING DEFLECTION BY THE CONTRACTOR
AND WITNESSED BY THE CITY. MAXIMUM DEFLECTION UNDER FULL LOAD
SHALL NOT EXCEED 5% OF THE ASTM DESIGNATED AVERAGE INSIDE DIAMETER
AS DETERMINED BY THE LABORATORY FOR THE SPECIFIED PIPING.
2) FAILURES- SHOULD A PIPE EXCEED THE ALLOWABLE DEFLECTION, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE THOSE PIPES AND RETEST THE SECTION.
3) EQUIPMENT- TESTING SHALL BE GO -NO -GO PULL THROUGH GAGES OF A
TYPE APPROVED BY THE CITY. A METAL OR PLASTIC GAUGING RING OF
DIAMETER EQUAL TO 95% OF THE SPECIFIED AVERAGE INSIDE PIPE DIAMETER
SHALL BE WITH EACH GAGE.
4) THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH TESTING EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL
AND PERFORM THE REQUIRED TESTS. TESTS MUST BE WITNESSED BY CITY
PERSONNEL.
5) USE OF MECHANICAL PULLING DEVICES IS NOT PERMITTED.
6) DEFLECTION TESTING SHALL NOT BE PERFORMED UNTIL THE COMPLETED
AND ACCEPTED TRENCH BACKFILL HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR AT LEAST
30 DAYS.
