GRADING AND DRAINAGE NOTES
1. ALL GRADES AT BOUNDARY SHALL MEET EXISTING GRADES EXCEPT WHERE
SHOWN.
2. ALL SWALES SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 1.0%.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL MINIMIZE DAMAGE TO EXISTING VEGETATION.
4. SLOPES SHALL NOT BE GREATER THAN 3:1 UNLESS NOTED.
5. REMOVE AND BACKFILL ALL AREAS WHERE ANY FIELD TILE CROSSES
PROPOSED BUILDING PADS. ALL FIELD TILES INTERCEPTED TO BE
PERPETUATED INTO STORM SEWER SYSTEM. THE SUBCONTRACTOR
SHALL NOTIFY IN WRITING THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER IN ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THIS CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED.
6. FILL UNDER LAWN AREAS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 90 PERCENT
STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY (ASTM D- 1557). FILL UNDER BUILDING AND
PAVEMENT AREAS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95 PERCENT
STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY (ASTM D- 1557).
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM ALL EARTHWORK QUANTIES PRIOR TO
THE START OF CONSTRUCTION IF AN EXCESS OR SHORTAGE OF EARTH IS
ENCOUNTERED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM WITH THE OWNER AND
ENGINEER THE REQUIREMENTS FOR STOCKPILING, REMOVAL, OR IMPORTING
OF EARTH.
8. ANY PART OF STORM SEWER TRENCHES RUNNING UNDER OR WITHIN 5'
OF PAVED AREAS IS TO BE BACKFILLED WITH GRANULAR MATERIAL.
9. STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE LOCAL GOVERNING AUTHORITY SHALL
APPLY FOR ALL STORM SEWER CONSTRUCTION.
10. ALL CONSTRUCTION METHODS AND MATERIALS MUST CONFORM TO CURRENT
STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY
OR LOCAL REQUIREMENTS, WHICHEVER HAS JURISDICTION.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO
STARTING CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
ALL FIELD DIMENSIONS. IF ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE FOUND IN THESE PLANS
FROM THE ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE
ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY.
12. THE EXCAVATING CONTRACTOR MUST TAKE PARTICULAR CARE WHEN
EXCAVATING IN AND AROUND EXISTING UTILITY LINES AND EQUIPMENT.
VERIFY COVER REQUIREMENTS BY UTILITY CONTRACTORS AND /OR UTILITY
COMPANIES SO AS NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY ALL UTILITY COMPANIES 72 HOURS BEFORE
CONSTRUCTION IS TO START, TO VERIFY IF ANY UTILITIES ARE PRESENT ON
SITE. ALL VERIFICATIONS (LOCATION, SIZE AND DEPTH) SHALL BE MADE BY THE
APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES. WHEN EXCAVATING IS AROUND OR OVER
EXISTING UTILITIES, THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOTIFY THE UTILITY COMPANY
SO A REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT UTILITY COMPANY CAN BE PRESENT TO
INSTRUCT AND OBSERVE DURING CONSTRUCTION.
14. TRENCHES FOR ALL STORM DRAIN LINES SHALL BE BACKFILLED COMPLETELY
WITH ENGINEERED GRANULAR MATERIAL IF WITHIN 5 FEET OF PAVEMENT.
15. AFTER STRIPPING TOPSOIL MATERIAL, PROOFROLL WITH A MEDIUM WEIGHT
ROLLER TO DETERMINE LOCATIONS OF ANY POCKETS OF UNSUITABLE
MATERIAL. THE NECESSITY FOR SUBDRAINS AND /OR REMOVAL OF ANY
UNSUITABLE MATERIAL WITHIN THE PROPOSED PARKING AREAS WILL BE
DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION.
16. PROVIDE POSITIVE DRAINAGE WITHOUT PONDING, IN ALL AREAS, AFTER
INSTALLATION, CONTRACTOR TO TEST FOR, AND CORRECT, IF ANY, "BIRD
BATH" CONDITIONS.
17. ALL PROPOSED SPOT ELEVATIONS ARE THE FINAL PAVEMENT AND FINAL
GRADE ELEVATIONS.
18. SEE APPROPRIATE DETAILS TO DETERMINE SUBGRADE ELEVATIONS BELOW
