After final grading seed or sod the yard as soon as possible 8. After the yard is re- vegetated remove all temporary erosion control measures. Peril{ C' CultroIS: Maintaining a strip of grass around the perimeter of a building lot is the most cost effective method of reducing erosion. The gross strip acts as a filter to trap sediments before they leave the lot. Other types of erosion control will be necessary if a gross filter strip is not maintained. A silt fence, straw bates and erosion control blankets each have strengths and weaknesses. Consult manufacturer recorirrendations on usage and maintenance before deciding on any particular erosion control measure.
