The following is a list in sequence of construction
activities to control soil erosion:
1. The contractor shall schedule a Pre construction
meeting with the Hamilton County Soil and Water
Conservation District prior to any construction on
the site being started.
2. The construction entrance installed.
3. Silt fencing for entire project installed
4. Maintenance and Refueling area constructed
5. Concrete washout area constructed
6. Posting information area shall be constructed. All
items, as outlined in the in the O &M manual for
Post Constuction water quality measures shall be
placed in this area.
7. Grade the site (sides of swales, mounds and
ponds to be seeded and mulched immediately upon
completion). Temporary seeding shall be
recommended for all swales and disturbed areas
that cannot be final seeded within a time period
that will prevent slope erosion. For temporary
seeding, the contractor shall utilize a fast growing
seed of either oats, annual ryegrass, wheat or rye
depending on time of year. Disturbed areas
should be kept to a minimum at all times.
8. Storm inlets are to be protected immediately
after installation.
9. Contractor shall control mud accumulation on all
streets surrounding project by installing stone
surface at all locations where construction traffic
leaves the site. Dust shall be kept to a minimum
by utilizing sprinkling, Calcium Chloride, Vegetative
cover, spray on adhesives or other approved
methods.
10. Maintain all filters and traps during construction
to prevent any blockages from accumulated
sediment. Additional seeding and straw bales may
be required during construction as specified by
Engineer or Soil Conservation Service. Payment
for additional straw bales shall be at the
contractor's expense. Payment for additional
rip —rap (not shown on plans) and seeding shall be
paid for on a unit basis.
11. Contractor shall install all sanitary sewers, storm
sewers, subsurface drains, and water mains.
Straw bale filters shall be installed at all storm
inlets (including street inlets).
Curb inlet
NEM
Temporary straw bale dam to be removed during blanket
installation.
Stone bags shall be placed
around curb inlets.
Silt Sack shall be used for inlets in inverted
Crown Conditions.
Imo Silt Fence
NOTES:
Seedbed Preparation for Permanent Seeding
1. Test soil to determine pH and nutrient levels.
(Contact you county SWCD or Cooperative Extension
office for assistance and soils information, including
available testing services.)
2. If soil pH is unsuitable for the species to be
seeded, apply lime according to test recommendations.
3. Fertilize as recommended by the soil test. If testing
was not done, consider applying 400 -600 lbs. /acre of
12 -12 -12 analysis, or equivalent, fertilizer.
4. Till the soil to obtain a uniform seedbed, working
the fertilizer and lime into the soil 2 -4 in. deep with
a disk or rake operated across the slope.
ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES MAY BE
REQUIRED BY THE HAMILTON COUNTY SURVEYOR'S
OFFICE.
