All planting beds and landscaped islands are to incorporate Dewitt Weed Barrier, or equivalent, between a minimum of three inches of shredded hardwood mulch and a minimum of six inches of topsoil or planting mix. An approved pre-emergent herbicide shall be applied in all planting beds before and after mulching at rates specified by the manufacturer. Weed barrier shall not be installed in areas proposed to be planted with annuals, perennials, or ground covers. 2. All soil in designated planting areas to be loosened by Landscape Contractor to depth of 6" prior to planting. 3. It is the expressed responsibility of the contractor to provide and verify that the topsoil in the planting areas is not over compacted and is reasonably free from subsoil, stones, downed timber, brush, roots, stumps rubbish, broken concrete, and any other material that may impede the establishment of the proposed plant material. 4. All trees and evergreen plant material to be balled and burlapped, unless otherwise noted. 5. All shrubs may either be container grown, or balled and burlapped. 6. All plants being transplanted from other areas on site will either be balled and burlapped or spade dug and moved to its new location as specified on this plan. 7. All plant material to be planted at the same relative depth as before transplanted. 8. All plants to be guaranteed to be in healthy condition for one full year after acceptance of all planting. 9. All new planting material shall meet or exceed ANSI specifications of quality. 10. All proposed plant materials are shown at 3/4 mature growth. Space as indicated on plant list or to proper horticultural methods. 11. Tree caliper size indicates the diameter of the trunk taken at 6" the point where the trunk meets the top of the root ball. 12. The Landscape Contractor is responsible for weeding, watering, and maintenance of all plant material until final acceptance. 16. The Landscape Contractor shall contact all Utility Companies to locate all mains, conduits, service lines, etc., in the affected construction area. 17. In cooperation with applicable utility companies. their on site service location, protection, and support during construction shall be the responsibility of the Landscape Contractor. 18. Landscape Contractor is responsible for coordination with other work for proper placement of plant materials and landscape work. 19. All planting bed lines are to have a cleared spade cut edge to a minimum depth of 4 inches. 20. All lawn areas are to be seeded or sod unless otherwise noted. 21. The interior of all parking lot islands shall be free of compacted paving base material to the depth required to reach undisturbed soil. This excavation shall be required only for the placement of the specified plant material and shall be twice the size of the root ball or container. 22. Any conflicts with the proposed plant and site constraints shall be brought to the attention of the Owner or Owners on site representative. Recommendations for resolving such conflicts will will be issued the Owner or the Owners on site representative. 23. Any deviation from the project specifications effecting the health handling, fertilization, maintenance and general condition of the specified plant material must be presented to the Owner or the Owners on site representative in written format for approval prior to execution. The Landscape Contractor shall bear full responsibility for correcting all changes made without proper approval. 24. Landscape Contractor shall coordinate finish grading and volume needs with both the Grading Contractor and the Owner or Owners on site representative. 25. Finish grading of landscape mounds and lawn areas to ensure proper drainage and aesthetic quality, shall be the responsibility of the Landscape Contractor. Owners on site representative shall approve mound shaping prior to the installation of plant material, seed, or sod in these areas. 26. All existing tree and shrub masses along the east property line that are scheduled to remain in place shall have protective construction fencing installed in accordance with the detials and specifications provided on Sheet 01103. Contractor shall be responsible for regular maintenance of this protective fencing for the duration of all site construction activities.
