See landscape plan. Removal of existing asphalt pavement indicated on plans shall include all aggregate base and subbase materials. Saw cut all areas. All cuts shall be clean, neat and true to line. Remove all non organic or toxic matter that would interfere with proposed planted materials. Replace excavated area with a minimum of 4" of approved topsoil. All areas where the existing pavement or pavements are damaged during construction from heavy traffic or equipment, fuel, oil, gasoline, etc., by the General Contractor, Subcontractor, or Suppliers, these areas shall be reconstructed and paved at least to its original condition after the construction work is completed. All stripes are to be 4" painted, white, unless otherwise noted. All concrete sidewalks are not to exceed a maximum slope of 3/4" per foot. Control joints at 5 to center a t unless otherwise —u o 0 —0 on center maximum and .,xpansion joints 40' -0" on center, unless noted or indicated otherwise on plans. All concrete curbs to be tooled for control joints at 10 c.c. maximum and have expansion oirtts at 40' -0 on center maximum. The Excavating Contractor must take particular care when excavating in and around existing utility lines and equipment. Verify minimum cover requirements by Utility Contractors and /or utility companies so not to cause damage. it is the Contractor's responsibility to notify all local utility departments 72 hours before construction is to start to verify if any utilities are present on site. All verifications (locations, size and depth), shall be made by the appropriate utility departments. When excavation is around or over existing u tii;ies, the Contractor must notify the utility company so a representative of that utility can be present to instruct and observe during the excavation. Trenches for all utilities shall be backfilled completely with approved engineered granular material suitable to the A/E. See appropriate detail. Handicap ramps along curbs to have a maximum slope of 1" in 12" longitudinally. Handicap ramp and signage shall be in accordance with Federal, State, County, City and Local Code, whichever has jurisdiction. See site plan for location and site details for specifications. Care should be exercised during the entire construction at the site. The traffic of all construction equipment may create pumping and general deterioration of the shallower soils if excess surface and subsurface water is present. Proper precautionary steps must be taken to alleviate such damage. All construction and materials to conform to current standards and specifications of the Federal, State, County, City or Local requirements, whichever has jurisdiction. In cut areas, where pavement sections are planned, the upper 10 inches of subgrade should be scarified and compacted to a dry density of at least 95 percent of the modified proctor maximum dry density (ASTM D- 1557). Any grade —rise fill paced within one foot of the base of the pavement section should also be compacted to at least 95 Percent of the modified proctor maximum dry density. This can be reduced to 90 percent for engineered fill placed more than one foot below the base of the pavement section. s the responsibility of toe Contractor or Contractors to obtain all Federal, State, County, City and Local permits for any and all work required unless otherwise noted. The Contractor or Contractors are responsible to pay for all permits mentioned above unless otherwise noted by the contract or specifications. it shall be the responsibility of the General Contractor to bear any and all expenses to remove, relocate and /or modify in any way utilities private, public or otherwise. lt further shall be the responsibility of the General Contractor to verify with each utility owner to whom is responsible to remove, reocote and /or modify such utilities existing or proposec per tnese plans or future utilities proposed by others not indicated herein. The contractor shall be responsible to provide, at his expense, all automobile and pedestrian traffic control devices required oy Federal, State, County, City or Local agencies.
