A summary of the proposed modifications to the building's exterior, site plan and signs is provided below. Firestone is an industry leader in many product lines other than tires, including building and industrial products, natural rubber, and fibers and textiles. The proposed facility will serve as the global research and development facility for these other product lines. Currently, Firestone has multiple testing, research and development facilities that serve these other product lines. Firestone intends to consolidate several of its existing facilities into a single location to serve as its global headquarters. At this time, Firestone has identified two potential locations. The subject property is the only site being considered in Indiana and this administrative review will assist Firestone in determining the appropriateness of this location. The proposed consolidation represents a multi million dollar investment into one location that will include the relocation over fifty (50) employees, primarily mid- to senior -level engineers, to the community.
