All planting and landscaped parking lot islands, excluding areas to receive annuals and perennials, ore to incorporate Dewitt Weed Barrier, or equivalent, between a minimum of three inches of shredded hardwood mulch and a minimum of six inches of topsoil or planting mix. An approved pre-emergent herbicide shall be applied in all planting beds before and after mulching at rates specified by the manufacturer. 2. All soil in designated planting areas to be loosened to depth of 6 inches prior to planting. 3. It is the landscape contractor's responsibility to provide and verify that the topsoil in the planting areas is not over compacted and is reasonably free from subsoil, stones, downed timber, brush, roots, stumps, rubbish, broken concrete, and any other material that may impede the establishment of the proposed nt material. 4. All trees and evergreen plant material to be balled and burlapped, unless otherwise noted. 5. All shrubs may either be container grown, or balled and burlapped. 6. The landscape contractor shall supply all plant material in quantities sufficient to complete all plantings shown on the drawings. If quantities of plant materials shown on the drawings conflicts with quantities given on the plant list, the quantities shown on the drawings shall supersede the plant list. 7. Any deviation from the project specifications effecting the health, handling, fertilization, maintenance and general condition of the specified plant material must be presented to the owner in written format for approval prior to execution. The landscape contractor shall assume full responsibility and associated cost for all changes made without proper approval. 8. All plant material to be planted at the same relative depth as before transplanted. 9. Flood all plants twice during the first twenty -four hour period after planting. 10. Begin maintenance immediately after planting and continue until final acceptance. 11. All plant material shall be guaranteed for one full year from date of acceptance. 12. All plants to be guaranteed to be in healthy condition for one full year after acceptance of all planting. 13. All new planting material shall meet or exceed ANSI specifications of quality. 14. All proposed plant materials are shown at 3/4 mature growth. Space as indicated on plant list or to proper horticultural methods. 15. Tree caliper size indicates the diameter of the trunk taken at 12 inches above ground level. 16. All planting bed lines are to have a cleared spade cut edge to a minimum depth of 4 inches. 17. Keep the soil of all balled and container plants moist until they are planted. If plants cannot be planted immediately, they should be heeled in and balls /containers should be covered with mulch. The location of a designated landscape material staging area shall be determined by both the landscape contractor and the owners on site representative. 18. Finish grading of landscape lawn areas to ensure proper drainage and aesthetic quality, shall be the responsibility of the landscape contractor. Owners on site representative shall approve shaping prior to the installation of plant material, seed, or sod in these areas. 19. The landscape contractor shall coordinate all finish grading of all lawn areas with the general contractor and owner prior to beginning any final grading work. A minimum of 4" inches topsoil shall be provided over all lawn areas receiving seed or sod. All work shall be in accordance with the Project Specifications Section 02900 and 02930. 20. All seeding shall be installed in accordance with the Project Specification, Section 02930. 21. Contact all Utility Companies to locate all mains, conduits, service lines, etc., in the affected construction area. 22. The location and protection of utility structures and facilities, their support and maintenance during landscape construction (in cooperation with applicable utility) is the expressed responsibility of the landscape contractor. 23. The landscape contractor is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the landscape installation with other site work to assure proper placement of plant materials and other landscaping. 24. Any conflicts between existing plant material to remain, and proposed plant material shall be brought to the attention of the owner, or owners representative. Recommendations for resolving such conflicts will be issued by them. 25. Refer to project specifications Section 02900 'General Landscape Work', Section 02930 'Lawns and ;rasses And 2955 Trees and Shrubs.
