The applicant has appeared before the Plan Commission Special Studies Committee for
ADLS amendment for sign color, illumination and size. The following commitments
were made: The Krieg, Devault sign will be illuminated —both signs will have the same
color and level of illumination. There will be a minor difference in the signage font.
Analysis:
If a building owner has two or more frontages, a wall or roof sign and a ground sign are
an allowed combination if a petitioner wanted to transfer sign square footage allowance
from one frontage to another. However, two wall signs require a variance. Since the
building is within the US 31 overlay, the look of two wall signs would be preferred,
rather than a ground sign and a wall sign.
Findings of Fact:
1.) The approval of this variance will not be injurious to the public health,
safety, morals, and general welfare of the community because: The sign will
be in compliance with the sign ordinance in regards to sign area. The sign will let
