Camel, IN 46033 RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION -HOME OCCUPATION Dear Sir / Madam This letter is being provided to Worm you that several complaints have been forwarded to this Department in reference to the Home Occupation being operated on the properly located at 14336 Gray Rd. N. in the City of Carmel, a property listed under your ownership. An investigation revealed a sign for the purchase of firewood (844-5260), a sign for the drop-off of wood, and multiple stacks of cut wood. This properly is currently zoned residential (R 1), which does not permit for business operations to be run from the properly. The only standards that permit for a business to be nun from a residential property are the Home Occupation standards of $25.18 Home Occupation of the Camel Zoning Ordinance. I've included a copy of the Carmel/Clay Land Use Regulations Home Occupation standards for your reference. You may contact Christine Barton -Holmes (317) 571-242 in order to petition for a Use Variance which could allow the continued business operations on the property. However, all cutting of wood, sales of wood, and storage of wood on the property must cease immediately. An inspection will be performed on November 23, 2009, to ensure that all wood being stored on the properly has been removed. Normally, a reasonable amount of firewood would be allowed on the property for personal use, but since there appears to be nobody living at the property, this reasonable accommodation will not apply. There will also be weekend inspections, starting the weekend of November 14, 2009, to ensure that all business activityat the propertyhas ceased. Failure to comply with these orders by the assigned dates will result in further enforcement action to include the issuance of daily citations for as long as the violation(s) persist, and which also requires a mandatory appearance in Carmel City Court.
